Product Description
Metric DIN 562 thin pattern square nut are four sided nuts. They are thinner than their DIN 557 counterparts. Similarly, their geometry provides a greater surface area to apply higher torque when tightening and also a greater surface are in contact with the part being fastened, thereby increasing the resistance to loosening. Being thinner provides the advantage of being able to fit into tighter spaces.
DIN (Deutsches Institut für Normung - German Institute for Standardization) standards are issued for a variety of components including industrial fasteners as metric DIN 562 thin pattern square nuts. The DIN standards remain common in Germany, Europe and globally even though the transition to ISO standards is taking place. DIN standards continue to be used for parts which do not have ISO equivalents or for which there is no need for standardization.
